AMC has issued a statement declaring that they will be bringing back The Killing for a third season after all! Following is the announcement:

My reviews for the season, for now

AMC and Fox Television Studios (FTVS) announced today a new deal which will return The Killing  to AMC for a third season. As part of the deal, Veena Sud returns as executive producer, writer and showrunner along with actors Mireille Enos (Sarah Linden) and Joel Kinnaman (Stephen Holder). Season 3 will focus on a new case, which will be resolved over the course of 12 episodes. Production on Season 3 begins Mon., Feb. 25 in Vancouver.

The Killing from day one has been a truly original take on the crime drama. Veena Sud and the rest of the talented creative team are hard at work shaping the lives of Linden and Holder, portrayed by the terrific Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president. “We’re so pleased to welcome back The Killing for another season.”

Fox TV Studios President, David Madden, said, “We have always believed in The Killing and remain extremely proud of it, which is why we all worked so hard to find a scenario that could give it new life.”

“I couldn’t be happier to know that I will be returning to work with AMC, FTVS and Mireille and Joel on what is and has always been a passion project for me. To the fans that have supported the series, thank you for doing so. My team and I will work hard to deliver the best story that we can for season three,” said Veena Sud.

A year after closing the Rosie Larsen case, Sarah Linden is no longer a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind.

The Killing is produced by Fox Television Studios and executive produced by Mikkel Bondesen for Bondesen Productions. Kristen Campo serves as co-executive producer.

The series premiered on AMC Sun., Apr. 3, 2011, with Season 2 premiering Sun., Apr. 1, 2012.The Killing averaged 1.9 million viewers over the two seasons.

AMC’s Joel Stillerman, executive vice president of original programming, production and digital content, Susie Fitzgerald, senior vice president of scripted development and current programming and Jason Fisher, senior vice president of production oversee production of the series for the network.

Are you excited about season 3? Tell us in the comments! We will be posting more later about talks on the subject. Stay tuned!

AMC has announced encore airings for The Killing every Sunday morning at 8/7c. The network stated:

Whether you’ve seen every episode of both seasons of The Killing or you’re new to the series that The New York Times named as one of their favorite TV shows of 2012, now is your chance to jump (back) in. Beginning this Sunday morning at 8/7c, AMC will launch a marathon of the drama the Houston Chronicle calls “one of the most interesting and best-acted series on television,” starting with the series’ very first episode, “Pilot.” The encore airings continue with episodes every Sunday morning throughout the winter.

Looks like AMC wants to start reminding people about the show, and that confirms The Killing season 3 rumors. Plus, the encores are calculated to be over just in time for the beginning of the third season! (as reports indicating season 3 will launch in May).

Last year, AMC did the exact same thing before the second season started. All facts look positive :) !

For other news: It has been reported that Billy Campbell (Darren Richmond), Michelle Forbes (Mitch Larsen), and Brent Sexton (Stan Larsen) won’t be part of the season 3 cast. Reports that were proven to be correct, as Billy Campbell confirmed it. Our blessings to each of the actors, you were great in the first two seasons.

A few months after AMC announced that The Killing won’t be renewed for Season 3, the network is renewing the show. Though no official word yet to come out from the companies, Variety is reporting that the series will be returning to AMC.

The new season is probably about to launch in late May, and the production is set to start in a few months. Earlier this monththere were reports that The Killing will be picked up by streaming giant Netflix after a few episodes of the third season aired on AMC, but the talks with Netflix have not yet to be finished.

The Killing season 3 will get new executive producers;  Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin!! Veena Sud will still be the Showrunner. :)

Looking forward to an announcement from one of the companies.

Yesterday, posts and articles flew over the web, indicating that Netflix, who was interested in the end of August (80 days ago) in picking up the show, is near to finish talks with Fox TV Studios with a success, and also that AMC is back in talks.

What ended up is that Netflix and AMC is near to ressurect The Killing together, Deadline reports. Both Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman are already signed on a season 3 contract, and now we just need to keep our fingers crossed that everything will be good between the three companies. (AMC, Netflix and Fox TV Studios)

We’ll keep you posted about what’s going on when there will be sonething new.
